COURSE OVERVIEW
IMDG Code or International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code is accepted as an international guideline to the safe transportation or shipment of dangerous goods or hazardous materials by water on vessel. IMDG Code is intended to protect crew members and to prevent marine pollution in the safe transportation of hazardous materials by vessel. It is recommended to governments for adoption or for use as the basis for national regulations.s mandatory in conjunction with the obligations of the members of the united national government under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL 73/78). It is intended for use not only by the mariner but also by all those involved in industries and services connected with shipping. Contains advice on terminology, packaging, labelling, placarding, markings, stowage, segregation, handling, and emergency response.
 
TRAINING DURATION
Total Training Hours: 8 to 12 Hours
Training Duration: 2 to 4 hours per day
Total Training Days: 2 to 3 Working Days

WHO SHOULD ATTEND 
Shore-based personnel from shipping, freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, warehousing companies or any other service providers in Singapore who are engaged in the transport of dangerous goods by sea.
Dangerous goods training for shore-based personnel has become mandatory since 1 January 2010. The IMDG Code has undergone a further amendment 38-16 which requires shore-based personnel involved in the handling, packing, transporting, storing, etc. of dangerous goods to receive training so as to familiarise with the general provisions of the IMDG Code.
Shore-based personnel are encouraged to attend this course which is taught by PSA experts to comply with the mandatory training requirement
 
COURSE BENEFITS
At the end of the course, participants will gain the knowledge and understanding of the basic requirements of the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, so as to enable its proper application.

  • Complete and check the dangerous goods transport document correctly
  • Handle dangerous goods in transport;
  • Load/unload dangerous goods into/from ships;
  • Enforce or survey or inspect for compliance with applicable rules and regulations; or are otherwise involved in the transport of dangerous goods as determined by the competent authority
