Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is becoming a critical skill for leaders. Research has shown that 90% of high performers possess high emotional intelligence. Traditionally, many managers have been promoted because of their technical/functional skills and for their dedicated service to their organisations. However, with a newer generation of a younger and more diversified group of employees, many of these leaders who are not trained in EQ skills, face difficulties in engaging and motivating their employees to perform. |
Emotional Intelligence LeadershipEmotional Intelligence is the ability to understand and manage our own emotions, and the emotions of others around us. It is a set of emotional, social and relational skills that guides the way we perceive, understand and express ourselves; connect with others; manage interpersonal communication and cope with challenges. EQ skills can be learned, developed and augmented. |
